~ Youth Volunteer Corps
The
Youth Volunteer Corps of Nanaimo (YVC), is a program of the Nanaimo
Volunteer and Information Centre Society. It offers young people,
age 11 to 18, an opportunity to be involved in problem solving
through structured, meaningful, team based, and reflective volunteer
service. Our Summer program for 2010 is now open, please

BC
is a new service which combines a number of proven health resources—BC NurseLine,
Pharmacist-After-Hours, Dial-A-Dietician and BC HealthGuide – and
makes them even easier to access now through the new
8-1-1
phone line for non-emergency health issues. The navigation system
will assist the public and health officials in finding and accessing
appropriate
health resources in, or close to, their home community. A trained
health service representative will answer all
8-1-1
telephone calls, and where appropriate, calls will be transferred
to a registered nurse, pharmacist or
dietician for further information and advice. The service can
provide help in identifying symptoms and advice on when to seek
medical treatment.
