Literacy Central Vancouver Island (LCVI) is seeking tutors to work with adult leaners who want to improve their math skills. Tutors are carefully matched with learners who have been assessed and have received an individualized learning plan designed to meet their needs.
Tutors and leaners meet once per week for up to 3 hours, either in the LCVI Learning Centre or at a pre-arranged public location.
Some experience teaching or tutoring/mentoring in mathematics preferred. LCVI is an inclusive space dedicated to serving vulnerable populations, so tutors must be patient and compassionate and have an awareness of social barriers and their effects on learning. Former educators and current university students are especially encouraged to apply! An RCMP Criminal Record Check is required and is paid for by the agency.
