Games/Arts and Crafts Volunteer
Island Crisis Care Society is seeking volunteers starting July 15, 2024, on Wednesdays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Duties include setting up a selection of board games, card games, or yard games, and engaging/socializing with residents and encouraging play. Other weeks volunteers will plan a simple craft or art activity. The volunteers will need to work with program staff to procure supplies needed, set up, and instruct residents who are interested in participating and tidying up afterwards.
Outing Activities Volunteer
Island Crisis Care Society is seeking volunteers starting July 15, 2024, to help plan and coordinate program outings. These activities could include seasonal activities within the community such as bowling, movies, etc., and will encourage residents to engage within the community. This position Is best suited for someone who loves being active and adaptable. This position will require a commitment of choosing a consistent day, alternating weeks.
Morning Stretch and Prep Volunteer
Island Crisis Care Society is seeking a volunteer starting July 15, 2024 for stretch, yoga, meditation etc., programming in common space for any residents that are interested in participating. The volunteer can instruct or select from a variety of provided online sources that are 15-30 minutes in duration. The volunteer will be required to prep breakfast for participants which could include starting tea/coffee, layout/prepare breakfast, bake muffins and pancakes which will be at the discretion of staff. No cooking or fitness background is required, just an ability and willingness to work with staff and residents.
Gardening Volunteer
Island Crisis Care Society is seeking volunteers starting July 15, 2024 for their small green space at their new supportive Recovery Program that requires maintenance. This position is best suited for someone that has a passion and understanding of basic gardening and yard maintenance. This position is flexible with day and time but will require a consistent schedule.
Exercise / Walking Program Volunteer
Island Crisis Care Society is seeking volunteers starting July 15, 2024 for supporting a physical fitness program which can include a variety of elements such as walking, hiking, indoor fitness and/or physical activities with participants. Program can be flexible and open to suggestions from volunteers. Shifts are on Wednesdays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, twice a month.
Dinner Meal Support Volunteer
Island Crisis Care Society is seeking volunteers once a week starting July 15, 2024, for dinner meal support. The shift is from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. The volunteers will be required to review a menu, begin preparation and cook a dinner meal and clean up meal prep. Volunteers may work one-on-one with individual residents who are interested in learning to cook or may be avid chefs already. Staff will connect with volunteers after the meal and will be happy to accommodate any favourite meal suggestions into the schedule. Food safe is recommended but not required.
Cleaning Volunteer
Island Crisis Care Society is seeking a volunteer starting July 15, 2024 to provide interior deep cleaning. Volunteers will be responsible for moving furniture to wash windows, walls, clean floors, dust, clean appliances and washrooms. The ideal volunteer will have attention to detail and the ability to use a little elbow grease. Tasks may be broken up into smaller components or you can bring a friend to help.
Baking and Social Volunteer
Island Crisis Care Society is seeking volunteers starting July 15, 2024 to bake with residents in the program kitchen and/or serve residents goodies and coffee/tea. Volunteers will be responsible for clean up. Volunteers must be able to commit to a consistent day, alternating weeks. Food safe is recommended but not required.
