The CNIB’s Vision Mate program matches people who are blind or partially sighted with sighted volunteers who provide companionship and one-on-one assistance with everyday tasks and activities such as assisting with running errands, going for walks, organizing household items, and recreational activities. Matches are made with someone who lives close to your home, school or work. Visits are typically 2hours/week in the person’s home or another suitable place at a mutually convenient time. The CNIB is looking for trustworthy, patient, and friendly volunteers for this position. The ability to drive and access a reliable vehicle would be a strong asset, as most of the participants need volunteers who can offer transportation occasionally. An RCMP Criminal Record Check is required and is paid for by the agency. For more information and to apply, please email Ben: ben.finkelberg@cnib.ca.
